Painted in acrylic on a 48” x 48” canvas. This is the third manifestation of this pattern. Originally I wanted to have the entire work done at the scale of the innermost pentagon has but I’d never have survived. The pattern is truly fractal in that it “creates” larger and larger pentagons. This was painted in 1993 just before I had access to computers that could generate the image in minutes instead of the 200 plus hours it took me. Now, with large format digital printers I could make wallpaper using this image and the resulting pentagon would actually suck the viewer into its center.
